I Got Pac Div Mania...

Two brothers and one best friend...these dudes are fucking extraordinary. Dropping 3 mixtapes (Sealed for Freshness, Church League Champions, Don't Mention It) and dropping their newest mixtape Mania! this past Monday, these gentleman are beyond dope.

Getting co-signs from names like Pharrell, Talib Kweli, ?uestlove and going on international tour with Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Nas, Q-Tip and Ice-T...these guys have killed every time they drop a mixtape. So what do these three dudes from Southern California got for us?

Pure audio coke.

The Mania! mixtape is beyond dope. I can actually compare these three dudes to A Tribe Called Quest...they are that dope. They got the same flow and word play, while dropping it on heavy beats. But the beats are essentially like listening to your high school orchestra. You can hear the bass line being generated by tubas, trombones, french clarinets...with a distinctive drumline keeping the tempo to the upbeat mixtape.

You're going to swag to Anti-Freeze, bust out the electric slide to SuperNegro, get serious with Somethin and then go back and make the street bounce with Your Fuckin' Song.

Its not an album...so don't expect a certain song to stick out above all others. But its amazing nonetheless so you will play it again and again. Kim Kardashian this bitch...

Dude...if still you reading this...stop...and download this classic with the genre being "Yo Mama's Favorite."

XXL Freshman: Introducing Diggy Simmons

What you get when you mix style, poise, hip hop blood and talented tongue tactics?

Diggy Simmons.

Son of Reverend Run, 1/3 of the legendary and motivational Run DMC, this kid has blown up...slowly but surely. Being a star of the Reality Show Run's House, which followed the family of Rev. Run, we saw Diggy Simmons grow from a teeny bopper to someone who knew what he wanted. He wanted to start his own fashion line with Pharrell Williams with his love for fashion. This kid started as a fashion afficianado and started to follow his dad's footsteps into the rap game. With an already bonafide relationship with Pharrell, he had a good foundation built up.

I was a bit hesitant to listen to his stuff. Look at his brother JoJo...dude is whack. So Diggy...you got for me? This kid is nice. His mellow voice goes well with his demeanor and flow...and then you hear he is part of the All City Chess Club - a who's who super group consisting names like Wale, Asher Roth, B.o.B., Lupe Fiasco and Pharrell. Diggy started dropping freestyles over solid beats like Shook Ones pt. II and Made You Look and really went in on his raps. Best part is he's not really rapping about the gold, the ice but rapping about a social conciousness at his age...kid is only turning 16...so with the wealth of knowledge surrounding him, plus an audacious style of clothing and lyrical repertoire...and a following at a young age...he's going to be someone to watch during 2011. Check out the links to mixtapes below and some of the raps he's dropped in the last little bit. Do it big Diggy...

Who Dat...Who Dat? J. Cole is coming home...

Jermaine Lamarr Cole, better known as J.Cole, is a rapper, producer, actor and a street motivator. Started rapping when he was 12 and then his mom bought him a beat machine, where he began to make his own beats and started to blow up. This kid mastered his craft and began to put it on blast in the hopes of a record deal. Releasing critically acclaimed mixtapes along the way and featuring on albums with the likes of B.o.B., Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Reflection Eternal and others before he was even signed, showed how he was destined for greatness. He eventually got signed to literally the royal family of hip hop these days, Roc Nation, with the likes of Jay-Z, Kanye, Rhianna and others. He began selling out shows without a proper single or album in the mix, so the question remains...who dat?

This is the kid who produced the "I'm Coming Home" track popularized by Diddy-Dirty Money and eventually used to bring in Carmello Anthony last night at his first Knicks game, which was originally meant for him but he decided to drop it. This is the kid who produced a track specifically for Jay-Z's album, American Gangster, and stood out in the rain to give it to him only to have Jay-Z be like, bitch get real. Later did HOVA know that J. Cole was about to blow up...this kid is tight. Expect a high profile album to come out...critically acclaimed...videos and lyrics posted on YouTube. But instead of me going on, just listen to what he has and be amazed down below. Mixtape links for download below.

Say What You Like, Just Spell His Name Right...Shad

So while going through some random albums I downloaded, I came across this dude name Shad. Now I posted a video for his song, "Keep Shining," due to the message behind the song and the strength the video provides for the overall message. Instantly, I was intrigued to see what Shad had to offer. Many times an artist will release one dope song and the rest are alright at best. So I picked up his mixtape, TSOL. I was fucking blown away.

So who is Shad? Shadrach Kabango, born in Kenya but raised in London, Ontario, studied at Laurier with a Business degree and is currently part-time at Simon Fraser for Liberal Arts. Made his big breakthrough when he won the 91.5 The Beat Future Talent competition where he released his debut album, When This is Over.

He is best known for his soulful and socially aware content, on par with artists like Common and Talib Kweli. Also recently, he performed a remix with Dallas Green (listen down below).

So I've been rocking TSOL this entire day...and let me tell you...I haven't heard something so awesome like this in a long time. His song Keep Shining has already been explained but the rest of this album is full of motivation emotion. "We, Myself and I," is meant as a pump up jam to get you on your feet to succeed on your way whereas, "At The Same Time" shows his social awareness and deep thought that goes into his rhymes with rhymes like,

"I never laughed and cried at the same time…
Until, I heard a church pray for the death of Obama
And wondered if they knew they share that prayer with Osama
Blasphemy and karma, the comedy of drama
I never laughed and cried at the same time…
Until, I imagined, they were suddenly aware of it
But wondered who's the heretic, and is the true terrorist, American or Arabic
A mix of surprise and embarrassment"

This one album of 13 songs is full of just amazing content and deep thought. The production is on par with stuff you expect out of 9th Wonder. I have never been so surprised before by an album I just decided to pick up. The album was number 2 on Exclaim's top albums of 2010 where they said, "[Shad is] the rare MC who conveys wisdom without being preachy. More than anything, he's versatile, able to seamlessly switch from fierce, hilarious battle raps on "Yaa I Get It" to heartfelt reflection over the contemplative piano and guitars of "At the Same Time" without seeming contradictory."

Please...please...PLEASE...download TSOL down below and run the album. You will not regret this. I promise you, you will listen to this album over, and over and over again. My rating...

We got ourselves an Aishwariya Rai...

Nipsey Hussle - Putting the West Coast Back on the Map

Introducing Nipsey Hussle, the kid from Crenshaw rocking with the same swagger that his rap forefathers use to walk with. Noted within XXL 2010's Ten Freshman Rappers alongside names like J. Cole and Big Sean, he is definitely a kid that stays close with his roots. The reason I'm writing about him is because his talent is being unnoticed and since a lot of you are just use to the terrible, terrible radio, I thought I would introduce you to him.

His music is substantially straight West Coast. The music he puts out is on par with what Snoop Dogg, NWA and other acts from the West use to put on back in the hay day of gangster rap. But Nipsey Hussle does it in a way that is not outdated. His word play is very distinctive and the beats that he prefers to rhyme over definitely make you want to put it on when you want to lay back and just enjoy the California sun...

Mainly a mixtape artist right now, his album is planned to release sometime this year. He released his mixtape, The Marathon, which I truly believe was slept on when it comes to word play and production quality. He has dropped some dirty freestyles in the last little bit and made some very strong featurings in some dope songs...down below. Enjoy Nipsey Hussle and run his mixtape for a run and maybe you'll be bumping this kid from Crenshaw in your trunk...download at the bottom.

Toronto's Own...Airplane Boys

I went to the Big Sean Concert on Sunday with my homeys Stu and Danny Glover...ha...and not only did we stand in line for an obscene amount of time (where I have frostbite on my hands and they still sensitive to the cold) but we were surprised by a nice treat...two fashion aficionados who can perform - The Airplane Boys.

Two kids Beck Motley and Bon Voyage...real deep artists. Word play is ridiculous...check em out. Make sure to download Where've You Been, honestly the best album IMO to come out this year.

The Airplane Boys

XXL Freshman: Introducing Mac MIller

XXL releases their list of Freshman...a list of hip hop's up and coming artists and I thought I do a quick run through one by one of these rascals...starting with Pittsburgh's Mac Miller.

The newest signee to the same record company of Wiz Khalifa (Rostrum Records), 19 year old Mac Miller has been killing the mixtape game while doing his high school homework. First bursting out on the scene at the age of 15, he became one of the quickest up and coming artists by releasing his first mixtape at the age of 15 (But My Mackin Ain't Easy) when he was called 'Easy Mac' and then garnishing over a million views on his YouTube page.

He started going into beast mode with his craft the second he graduated high school and began dropping tracks. But not homemade out of the basement tracks, he's already worked with who's who in the game from Just Blaze, Bun B, Three 6 Mafia, Talib Kweli, Consequence, 9th Wonder and a slew of others.

What a lot of people are saying is that his rhymes are corny and immature. Let's face it, he's white, he's 19, and he's making Donald Trump Money...what do you expect? Most kids at that age think they are invincible and they aren't going to write about the struggle or war or famine. Hell, they'll write about how much money they can get, while partying with hot girls getting wasted.

So here's Mac Miller at his finest...take it or leave it...but the kid is talented so enjoy the videos and a link to his most recent mixtapes are down below.

Download: Mac Miller's Mixtapes

Update on this blog

So I had an old blog that got shut down by the DCMA that was pretty successful. I wrote a lot of articles in there about up and coming artists and I put a lot of work into them. So the next few posts is essentially all of those articles and their associated links so that I can get the names of some deserving talent some exposure.

Phil Adé - #PhilAdeFriday (Mixtape)

This kid has been dropping unreal songs full of lyrical content and story telling every Friday and its been amalgamated into a mixtape by his DJ Money and the 368 Music Group. Enjoy this and its definitely worth a solid spin!

Download: Phil Adé - #PhilAdeFriday (Mixtape) (From datpff.com)

CyHi The Prince - Emotional ft. 2Chainz

More music from the G.O.O.D. Music spitter!

Kendrick Lamar - Sex With Society

Compton's own Kendrick has been making waves in the music industry.  Lot of cats been talking about the kid who's been working with Dr. Dre in the lab...and getting co-signs from some influential names.  Getting the XXL Freshman of 2011 with it, expect big things out of this kid.

T.Shirt drops an email in my mailbox and leaves me his new album. Cop this shizzit from the up and coming rapper who dun give two bout nuffin!

Download: T.Shirt - I Should Just Chill (T.Shirt)

Wale - Cookup ft. Stalley, Black Cobain and Tone P

I have a lot of respect for Maybach Music right now. Usually when someone drops an album, they stop making music for a little while and focus on marketing that album. Not these homeys, they dropping hits after hits after hits...

B.o.B. - Am I Psycho? (Odd Future Diss)

Over one line on Yonkers...B.o.B. going HAM on Odd Future...

Irv Da Phenom - Moment 4 Life ft. Mac Lethal

Going in on the Nicki Minaj beat...word...off of Strange Music which is the same record company as Tech N9ne

Wiz Kalifah - Reefer Party ft. Chevy Woods and Neako (Video)

Over the Grove St. Party beat from Waka Flocka...and now a video full of weed usage...

Rick Ross - Finals ft. Meek Mill and Gunplay

The only people in the world cheering for Miami are Lebron nuthuggers and Miami...while the rest of the world is cheering against them. But Ricky Rozay was happy about Lebron coming to the Heat and that's why he came out with this joint...too bad he didn't bring Chris Bosh on the Vocals like Twista and Carlos Boozer...

Memphis Bleek - High Volume

Always playing Jay-Z's back up man and known really for a few hot joints...the man is slowly coming to his ground again releasing this joint

Busta Rhymes - Murder ft. Gucci Mane and Tity Boi

Dude must be dropping an album soon...The Chemo...

Bad Meets Evil - Lighters ft. Bruno Mars

I can't wait! A typical Bruno Mars joint...but with super lyrical flow. Making lyrical cool again!

SH'Boss Boys - I'm a G

So I see this video and lost my mind...these kids got swag...and beat got me cooking!

Hope they win the whole thing!

Wayback Playback - Shaq - I Know I Got Skillz

After 19 years of dominance in the game...Shaq announced on Twitter that he is retiring...lets look at the dude's accolades...

4× NBA Champion (2000, 2001, 2002, 2006)
3× NBA Finals MVP (2000–2002)
NBA Most Valuable Player (2000)
NBA Rookie of the Year (1993)
15× NBA All-Star (1993–1998, 2000–2007, 2009)
2× NBA scoring champion (1995, 2000)
8× All-NBA First Team (1998, 2000–2006)
2× All-NBA Second Team (1995, 1999)
4× All-NBA Third Team (1994, 1996–1997, 2009)
3× All-Defensive Second Team (2000–2001, 2003)
NBA All-Rookie First Team (1993)
3× NBA All-Star Game MVP (2000, 2004, 2009)
1994 FIBA World Championship MVP
1996 Olympic Gold Medalist

The dude killed it. Breaking records, taking names, cashing cheques...and knocking some of the finest women...and ending up with this...

Lets just say the dude stays winning. He's been part of many movies that are now synomynous with his name...He Got Game...Good Burger...and he was the SHIT in Kazaam!

But what a lot of people don't know is his supremacy in the game. Being friends with some of the biggest names in the game from the Wu-Tang Clan, Warren G, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Micheal Jackson, KRS-One and one of his best friends, Notorious B.I.G. Its actually heavily discussed that the night Biggie was killed, Shaq was suppose to be with him. Shaq was suppose to meet up with him, but ended up sleeping in. A lot of people, including Shaq himself, said Shaq probably would have been riding with Biggie, which could of meant that he would never have been shot because Biggie wouldn't roll with Shaq without being heavily guarded...

But his hip hop career was a success. Releasing 4 albums of which he received one platinum and one gold status, the dude was able to be more successful than most of the cats in the game. So since he's retiring, and this is my wayback playback, its only fitting Shaq gets the big ups on this one!

Lloyd Banks - Home Sweet Home ft. Pusha-T

Face Tha Music - Go ft. Vado, Jon Connor and Neako

This song has nothing to do with the image portrayed but both the Canucks and this joint are full of win!

D-Pryde - No Sleep ft. Joe Budden

Now if you don't know who D-Pryde is, you surely must be sleeping. There has been this little asian dude coming out of T.O. that has hit the top 100 videos every time one of his videos drops on YouTube. D-Pryde is the first successful YouTube rapper to finally start making it big.

This kid has been dropping freestyles and remakes of different songs on YouTube for such a long time...and I thought at first this kid was corny, but then I saw his portion of the Forever remix on YouTube and his lyrical flow caught me off guard...watch the entire video, its actually legit but his part is at 5:52

As a matter fact...check out the dude's YouTube videos...just try to find a video with a song in it that has less than 100000 views.

Anyways, the dude is dropping his Mars Mixtape this Friday and it completely passed my mind.  More importantly, he's aligned himself with some big rappers who have made a name for themselves on the internet...namely one Joe Budden.  Enjoy this track and be sure to cop the mixtape!

Laws - Homeland (Video)

Killin' it again! Album dropping this summer!

Consequence - Comic Book Flow

I wish I had this snuggie...

Consequence dropping a new track off of his upcoming mixtape...Movies on Demand 3

RAPSODY - BLACK GIRL JEDI from Pricefilms on Vimeo.

This girl is literally the best lyrical female in the game period. And with 9th Wonder behind her...man...Thank H.E.R. Now drops June 21st!

KiD CuDi - Marijuana (Video)

KID CUDI- MARIJUANA from Grassy Slope on Vimeo.

There are a lot of reasons this video is interesting

1.) Its directed by Shia Labeouf of Even Stevens fame
2.) Remember when KiD CuDi said he quit marijuana?
3.) Wait does that make Shia Labeouf a pot head?
4.) Vimeo videos are 100x better than any other internet streaming content.

KiD CuDi - Perfect Is the Word

KiD CuDi on a new one produced by Dot...its different but I likey!
